Within the included 3,296 identified meta-analyses, there were multiple specific sub-analyses. This overview draws from a systematically selected 1,690 meta-analyses, excluding for example geographic, analytical, and redundant meta-analyses.

The 127 Systematic reviews draw data from a combined 1,104 unique primary studies. Many more primary studies cover the intersection between plastic chemical exposure and human health outcomes.

There were 74 unique exposures identified in the included meta-analyses. This includes individual chemicals, as well as combined exposures of multiple chemicals.

Current research is predominantly undertaken in developed countries, while the disadvantaged and vulnerable carry a higher burden.
